Software like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet have seen skyrocketing downloads and usage. There is no doubt that 2020 belongs to video calling apps. Today, many people use Zoom to conduct job interviews, attend seminars, music concerts, keep in touch with friends and family, and more. While in an important meeting on Zoom, you need to track the time and duration of the Zoom session.
Knowing the meeting duration is useful for those who want to keep track of Zoom meeting times. For example, a lecturer can view the duration for 25 minutes or 40 minutes and then cancel today’s lecture on Zoom. You can also keep an eye on how long the Zoom conference lasts.
If you have a free license like me, or are simply time conscious, keeping track of time during meetings is of utmost importance. Not only does it help you finish the meeting before the 40 minute deadline, but it also allows you to become a time management expert.
By default, Zoom does not show the duration of the meeting in the PC or HP applications. You need to enable the option from the Settings menu. One can also use third-party apps to activate a timer during a Zoom meeting.

In this article, I will show you how to display meeting duration in Zoom meetings and other tricks. Immediately let’s get started.
Displaying Meeting Duration on Zoom PC Desktop
As I mentioned earlier, Zoom doesn’t turn on meeting duration by default. So, you rely on alarms, reminders or manual guess to check meeting duration. To view the meeting duration on Zoom PC Desktop, follow the steps below.
- Open the Zoom app on Windows or Mac.
Tap the icon/image profile in the top right corner and open
Navigate to Generalthen check the box on
Show My Connected Time.
From now on, whenever you have a Zoom meeting, you will see the duration of the meeting in the top right corner.
The time duration is only activated on your side. This means that you as the host or participant can see the duration of the meeting in the Zoom session. Other users will not be able to see the same on their side. Maybe you can share this post with others or walk them through the same steps above.

The trick of displaying the meeting time is useful for users on Zoom’s Basic plan (which most of us use). Zoom offers a free version that almost none of its competitors have, even allowing users to host up to 99 members and chat with them for 40 minutes.
Keeping track of time during meetings is very important so that you take advantage of the limited time that everyone invests. It helps you to finish the meeting before the set deadline. Apart from that, you can also use that saved time to manage other activities.
